Book of the month Anne Hassett

February 2011

A Course in Weight Loss

By Marianne Williamson

She of "The Course in Miracles" fame!

Seems like I'm on a theme this month and last, but it is all 'stuff' I am dealing with myself at the moment so, consequently, I have been drawn to these books.I have always loved Marianne Williamsons books and teachings. What she says really packs a punch and she gets right down to basics.

This book on weight issues has very little in it about FOOD. Its all about emotions and 'stuff' we have tried to stuff down.Since I began to work with it (it is one you work with, not just read) I have got back in touch with lots of old traumas. One trauma that was so deep and happened 57 years ago and I had completely buried and denied all this time.OMG what a time it has been working with this book, but I feel liberated!

Quote from the back cover......................

" If your 'weighty thinking' does not change, then even if you lose weight, you' ll retain an overwhelming subconscious urge to gain it all back. It's less important how quickly you lose weight, and more important how holistically you lose weight; you want your mind, your emotions and your body to all lose weight! Weight that disappears from your body but not from your soul is simply recycling outward for a while, but is almost certain to return. It's self-defeating, therefore, to struggle to drop excess weight unless you are also willing to drop the thoughtforms that initially produced it and now hold it in place."

"A Course in Weight Loss" addresses the true causal root of your weight;loss issues: a place within you where you have forgotten your Divine perfection. The 21 lessons in this book will take you on a deep , sacred journey. It helps you to become, once more, and in all ways, the beautiful and peaceful person you were created to be"

Other books by Marianne Williamson include 'A Return to Love' (my favourite). 'A Woman's Worth', 'A Gift of Change', 'Everyday Grace'. etc etc.Her website www.marianne.com
