The Voice

This poem is by Dawn Henderson, author, teacher and inspirational leader. I thought it captured perfectly the power and essence of sound.

Before time, there was the Voice.

A voice so pure that through its song the Universe was birthed into being, brought joyfully forth on its tumbling melodies.
The Voice filled the dark void, a song of light piercing the eternal nothingness. Echoing through the black emptiness. And as it sang, other voices awakened, merging in ecstatic harmony to fall away and then rise up again. Symphonies of creation singing into existence the divine essence of the One Soul. Calling forth the notes of love on which all else is founded.
And as the Voice continued its song and the other voices joined with it, growing ever stronger, ever more powerful, so the One Soul also grew, expanding out into the nothingness, charging it with the vibration of love. And in doing so, fragments of it were set free, scattering through the darkness, glittering stars that filled the blackness of the void with their light.

Reaching into even the furthest hidden recesses and settling there.

And wherever they touched, light and love remained.

No corner was untouched by it, no nook or cranny unlit.

The essence of the One Soul, carried throughout eternity.
